Common Questions, Straight Answers

Everything you need to know before starting a project with us.

Getting Started

How quickly can you start on my project?
Engineers can typically start within 48 hours of a signed agreement. The first step is a free 30-minute consultation, after which we break down your project into tasks with hour estimates. You approve scope before any work begins.
Do I need to know exactly what I want before reaching out?
No. Many clients come to us with a problem, not a spec. We help you turn a rough idea into a clear technical scope during the discovery phase β€” no commitment required.
What information should I prepare for the first call?
Broadly: what you're building, who it's for, any existing tech (stack, codebase, infra), your rough timeline, and your budget range. The more context you share, the more useful the conversation.

Pricing & Billing

How does hourly billing work?
Engineers log time against specific tasks in ClickUp. You can see logged hours in real time. Every Friday you receive an itemised invoice β€” task-by-task β€” for the hours worked that week. No black-box billing.
Do I have to commit to a minimum number of hours?
No long-term minimum. Most engagements start at 10–20 hours per week and scale from there. You can pause with one week's notice.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. You pay for engineering hours only. Tooling, licences, or third-party services (AWS, Stripe, etc.) are billed separately through your own accounts β€” we don't mark them up.
Do you offer fixed-price projects?
Our standard model is time and materials because software scope rarely stays fixed. We do offer fixed-price engagements for clearly scoped, bounded work (e.g. a specific integration or migration). Ask on your consultation call.

The Engineers

Who actually works on my project?
Senior engineers with 9+ years of production experience. No junior developers, no offshore padding. You'll know who is on your project before work begins.
Will I get the same engineers throughout?
Yes, we aim for continuity. If we ever need to swap an engineer (e.g. illness, capacity), we manage knowledge transfer internally so you don't feel the change.
Can I talk directly to the engineers?
Absolutely. We encourage direct Slack/email communication between you and the engineers on your project. No account managers filtering messages.

Contracts & Flexibility

What's the minimum contract length?
There is no minimum. You can start, pause, or stop with one week's notice. No lock-in, no exit fees.
Can I add more engineers mid-project?
Yes. Additional engineers can typically be onboarded within 48 hours. We match the seniority and stack expertise to what the project needs at that point.
What happens to the code when we stop working together?
You own everything. All code, documentation, and IP produced during the engagement is yours. We'll do a proper handover to your team or your next vendor.

Working Together

What time zones do you work in?
Our core hours are 9 AM – 6 PM WAT (UTC+1). We regularly work with clients in the UK, EU, and US and can arrange overlap hours by agreement.
How do you handle project management?
We use ClickUp for task management and time tracking. You get a shared workspace where you can see the backlog, in-progress work, and logged hours per task β€” updated daily.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. We sign NDAs before any technical discussion. Confidentiality is standard, not optional.
